A Minstrel's Life is a solo writing RPG where you will take on the role of a minstrel in Renaissance Europe living your life, writing music, and having adventures. This game was inspired by the works of Judith Leyster, a Flemish (Dutch) painter from the 1600’s.  Can you find happiness in this, sometimes harsh world? What beauty can you create as you go?

Explore the works of one of the many talented and often neglected female artists in history.  Let her art inspire your minstrel story and your music.  Play through a series of choose your own adventure-style prompts or roll a pair of dice and see where chance and the paintings take your story.   Will you be tremendously successful and live a life of ease, or will you die an ignominious death?

Judith Leyster was an accomplished and talented artist.  Take a journey through her amazing artistic output and create some art yourself! Be in conversation with one of the great, (if forgotten or neglected through most of art history) artists of the 17th century.

A portion of the profits from this game will be donated to the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, DC.
